Guerschon Yabusele Height: What 6’7″ and 265 Pounds Actually Looks Like on an NBA Court

When they enter an arena, a certain type of basketball player doesn’t instantly cause people to gasp. Among them is Guerschon Yabusele. He weighs 265 pounds and stands 6 feet 7 inches tall, making him both big enough to anchor a frontcourt and small enough to regularly step out to the three-point line and make shots. In ways that aren’t always visible in highlight reels, that balance—that particular combination of height and mass—has subtly defined his career.

Guerschon Yabusele’s height of 2.01 meters places him squarely between a modern center and a traditional power forward. According to some accounts, he is as tall as 6’8″ and as heavy as 283 pounds. Depending on when and by whom he was measured, the figures may differ slightly. In professional basketball, that kind of ambiguity is not uncommon. His physical presence, which can be challenging to maneuver in the post but is nimble enough to pursue smaller players on the perimeter, is what consistently leaves an impression.

In December 1995, he was born in Dreux, France, to parents who had left the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Yabusele trained as a boxer before he ever touched a basketball with serious intent. When you watch him physically assault opponents, that background seems pertinent. His use of his frame has a purposeful quality, a controlled force that doesn’t seem accidental. That was probably influenced by the boxing years.

It was anticipated that his size and athleticism would translate when Boston selected him 16th overall in the 2016 NBA Draft. He played for the Maine Red Claws in the G League and the Celtics’ main roster for portions of two seasons, but mostly in small roles. Without a doubt, it was frustrating.

During those years, he averaged just seven minutes per game, so it’s hard to draw any conclusions about him from that time alone. Nevertheless, he gained a small but sincere fan base in Boston; they dubbed him the “Dancing Bear,” which, to be honest, fits a 265-pound forward with a three-point shot better than most nicknames.

The time spent overseas revealed a more complete picture. He averaged more than 20 points and more than nine rebounds per game while playing for the Shanghai Sharks in China. In the CBA, the size that had appeared to be a project in Boston appeared to be a benefit. He played some of the most competitive club basketball in Europe at Real Madrid from 2021 to 2024, helping the team win two Spanish League titles and a EuroLeague title in 2023. In EuroLeague play, he had exceptionally high shooting efficiency (nearly 42 percent from three and over 57 percent from inside the arc). Teams spend years trying to develop that kind of versatility for a player his size.

He gained more recognition after the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. He averaged 14 points per game while playing for France in front of his home crowd during the tournament, which led many to question why he had been out of the NBA for so long. He signed a contract with the Philadelphia 76ers by August 2024. He shot 50% from the field and averaged 11 points and 5.6 rebounds in 70 games. Although those aren’t particularly impressive figures, they are reliable and steady, which is what you would anticipate from a player who knows how to make the most of his 6’7″, 265-pound body in NBA spacing.

Given that he moved from Philadelphia to the New York Knicks and then the Chicago Bulls in less than a year, it’s still not entirely clear how high his ceiling is in the league at thirty. However, there is a plausible argument that Guerschon Yabusele’s height and weight, which are frequently regarded as background details, have actually been the main plot point all along given how his physical characteristics have translated across various systems and continents.
