A new banking hub in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, is coming, providing easier access to cash and banking services for locals. This initiative, recommended by LINK, aims to support residents, businesses, and high street banking.

    What Is a Banking Hub?

A banking hub is a shared banking space that functions like a traditional bank branch but serves customers from multiple banks.

Counter service for withdrawals, deposits, and bill payments (operated by Post Office staff).
Private meeting spaces for specialist banking support.
Rotating schedule of community bankers from different banks.

Why Is Marlow Getting a Banking Hub?

Local councillor Carol Heap requested additional banking services for Marlow, following the closure of several bank branches. LINK reviewed the request and confirmed that the town needs better cash access.

This makes Marlow the second town in Buckinghamshire to receive a banking hub, following Buckingham’s hub, which is already in operation.

    What’s Next?

    • Cash Access UK will begin looking for a suitable location.
    • Community engagement will take place to ensure the hub meets local needs.
    • Once open, Marlow’s high street and local economy will benefit from improved banking access.

Dr. Chris Ashton, Chief Commercial Officer at LINK, says:

“While more people are choosing digital banking, cash remains essential for many. This hub will be a huge boost for Marlow.”

    Councillor Carol Heap adds:

“This will provide essential banking services for residents and businesses. I look forward to making it happen.”

With 142 banking hubs already operating across the UK, Marlow’s new hub will offer a much-needed financial lifeline to those who still rely on in-person banking.
