The way K-pop fans list their favorite idols has an almost ritualistic quality. Birthdays, blood types, MBTI scores—and height, without fail. The height discussion has been ongoing for nearly as long as ILLIT, the five-person group that made its debut under BE:LIFT Lab in March 2024.
Fansigns and fan calls, rather than an official announcement, confirm the numbers, which provide an intriguing narrative. At 168 cm, Yunah, the group’s leader, is by far the tallest member. Minju measures 163 cm, followed by Moka and Wonhee at 162 cm, and Iroha, the youngest member and Japanese maknae, at 158 cm. Although the group’s range is only 10 centimeters, which is a relatively small spread, fans have devoted a significant amount of time and effort to analyzing each member’s precise location.
The ILLIT height debate is especially lively because a large portion of it has been fueled by members rather than official sources. During a fan call, Minju verified her measurement. At fansign events, Moka and Iroha shared theirs. In the same casual, conversational manner that has grown to be one of the more charming aspects of the relationship between K-pop idols and their fans, Yunah’s height came up. A moment between a performer and a person who came to see her, nothing certified and stamped.
When watching stage cuts and fan-filmed footage side by side, it’s difficult to ignore how obviously the height differences show up in the performance. Yunah’s slightly taller frame makes some choreography moments a natural focal point, and she tends to anchor the visual center in group formations. On the other end of the spectrum, Iroha has a compact energy that reads as quick and precise onstage, which, by most accounts, fits her perfectionist personality. The average height of the group is between 162 and 163 cm, which puts them on the shorter end when compared to some HYBE labelmates. This fact became subtly apparent when ILLIT appeared with Enhypen in various promotional settings.

Since fans have been debating Moka and Wonhee’s height, it merits its own paragraph. Although both members are officially 162 cm tall, some observers believe Wonhee appears slightly taller these days based on recent footage. No one seems to be able to say with certainty whether that is due to actual growth, shoes, posture, or simply the erratic way cameras distort proportions. These issues tend to be resolved at the subsequent fansign and then reopened for discussion a week later.
In contrast, Iroha’s 158 cm stature has turned her into a somewhat loving subject of fan commentary. She carries herself with a composure that makes the height difference seem less dramatic than the numbers suggest, even though she is standing next to taller K-pop peers. The height difference moment with LE SSERAFIM’s Kazuha reportedly generated significant fan reaction. Even though Iroha is the youngest member of the group, she has a certain level of experience because she was once a JYP trainee and performed a Japanese pop song during her audition.
It is important to recognize the larger context. The community is aware that K-pop idol heights are not always what they seem on paper. The distinction between a stage shoe and a street shoe can cover a lot of ground, agencies have been known to manipulate the numbers, and official profiles have been known to round up. The fact that ILLIT’s heights were primarily verified by direct fan interaction rather than label documentation lends those figures a certain legitimacy, or at least that is how fans appear to view them.
In the end, the numbers show that the group is comfortably in the middle range, with just enough variation to keep the visual dynamic interesting, and neither exceptionally tall nor exceptionally petite by K-pop standards. All things considered, this is precisely where a group such as ILLIT appears to want to be.
